UW-Whitewater Hosts 1st and 2nd Round of NCAA D3 Tournament

Lots of Basketball action this weekend as UW-Whitewater hosts the first and second round of the Division III NCAA Tournament.  UWW-TV will have LIVE coverage of both Friday and Saturday’s games.

The first match-up of the day will be between Augustana and St. Thomas beginning at 5:30pm CDT.

The Augustana Vikings are making their fourth consecutive appearance into the Division II NCAA Tournament.  The Vikings are are 34-16 all-time in 15 previous appearances, with five final four trips and three second place national finishes.

The St. Thomas Tommies enter into the tournament 19-7 overall.  The Tommies are making their 18th NCAA playoff appearance including their 2011 and 2016 national championship teams.

The Second match-up of the day is between the UW-Whitewater Warhawks and the Northwestern-St. Paul Eagles beginning at 7:30pm CDT.

The Warhawks (21-6 overall) received an at-large bid after tying for second in the WIAC and reaching the semifinals of the WIAC Championship.  The Warhawks and the Eagles will be meeting for their fourth time and UW-Whitewater holds a 3-0 advantage in the all time series.

The Eagles are coming in 20-7 overall and are making their seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance after defeating the College of St Scholastica in last Saturday’s Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament Championship.

The winner of both Friday games will face-off in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday beginning at 7:00pm CDT.

Game 2: UW-Whitewater vs. Northwestern (Minn.), 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 4
Game 3: Winner of Game 2 vs. Winner of Game 1, 7 p.m.
