UW-Whitewater to Host Opening Rounds of NCAA D-III Women’s Basketball Tournament

UW-Whitewater will host the 2025 opening rounds of the NCAA Division-III Women’s Basketball Tournament this Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8, 2025.
In the first game, the Colorado College Tigers take on the UW-La Crosse Eagles at 4:30 P.M. CST. UWW-TV will go LIVE with this game ten minutes prior to tip-off.
The second game of the tournament features our lady Warhawks hosting the Principia College (IL) Panthers.
Approximate tip-off is 7 P.M. CST. UWW-TV will also broadcast LIVE the second round game between Friday’s winners beginning at 6:50 PM CST Saturday, March 8.

Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Killing UW-Whitewater Gymnast Kara Welsh
23-year-old Chad Richards accused of killing UW-Whitewater Gymnast Kara Welsh, will stand trial in December.
Richards charged with first-degree intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon, was arrested in August of 2024 after an argument broke out between the two, which ended in Welsh being shot 8 times.
Richards faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
The trial is set to begin December 15th with the jury scheduled for 7 days. He will appear again in court on March 20th for a status conference.

Interim Chancellor of UW-River Falls Announced

University of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman announced John Chenoweth as the new Interim Chancellor of UW-River Falls. He is expected to begin this new role on March 1st and serve for an extended period.
With this change, Robin Fox will start March 3rd as interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UW-Whitewater.
To show gratitude and celebrate these changes, UW-Whitewater will be hosting an appreciation event in the University Center Friday, February 28th from noon to 1 in the afternoon.
Spring Semester Traffic Safety
Starting in the spring, Starin Road will have a reduced speed limit of 15 mph between Prince and Prairie Street and all-way stop signs will be added at the intersections of Warhawk Drive and Prince Street. New pedestrian signage will be installed by the Visitor Center and the university’s bookstore to improve safety.
Students are recommended to be cautious while crossing streets, avoid distractions like phones or headphones, use the designated crosswalks, and stay alert.
