NCAA DIII Women’s Basketball Tournament – First Round: UW-Whitewater vs. Principia College

The UW-Whitewater Warhawks of the WIAC face off against the Principia College Panthers of the SLIAC in the first round of the NCAA DIII Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Warhawks were battle tested all conference season, earning the three-seed for the WIAC tournament. After a home win, the Warhawks defeated the top two teams on the road to win the conference tournament and claim the automatic bid into the national tournament. This will be the Warhawks 9th consecutive tournament, and 23rd overall.

The Panthers knew they needed to make magic happen if they wanted to make the national tournament. They needed to win three game in the span of five days. After winning their first round game, the Panthers took down top-seeded Westminster College to advance to the conference tournament game. After falling behind early, the Panthers battled back and capped off their run with a buzzer beating basket to propel them into the national tournament!

Tipoff from Kachel Gymnasium is set for 7:00 PM (CST)! The winner advance to the second round on Saturday and will face the winner of the Colorado College vs. UW-La Crosse matchup. LIVE coverage of all opening weekend games are provided by UWW-TV!
