UWW Interim Chancellor, WSG President Speak to the Students on COVID-19

“You cannot hold parties…you cannot attend parties…you just cannot do it.”

These were just some of the words interim Chancellor Greg Cook shared with the student population  earlier this week, in light of the increase in positive COVID-19 cases at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  During a five-minute video presentation released, he acknowledged the desire students had to return to campus and attend face-to-face classes.

“I’m here today to ask you…to encourage you…to beg you…and, to warn you that if we do not take this more seriously, we do not follow the safety measures, we are at risk at not making it the whole semester…” Cook added when describing our current situation, stating also students will have to do their part, reminding everyone what UW-Madison was forced to do recently with virtual only learning.  Cook believes that if everyone in the campus community pulls together and abides by the safety protocol in place, we can finish out the fall semester as intended.

Whitewater Student Government President Jody Wentworth echoed Cook’s plea in the video.  “Now is the time to step up and to mask up,” she said.  “Together, we can combat this virus, but it’s going to take all of us together, as a team, as a family.”
