The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has named Paul Waelchli as director of Andersen Library, effective August 1.
Waelchli currently serves as the director for the Cole Library and Center for Teaching and Learning at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, a post he’s held for the past five years. At Cornell College he managed a budget of more than $1.5 million, chaired the campus technology policy committee, and taught information literacy sessions for several academic departments. He’s a leader in strategic planning and also chaired the Iowa group of private academic libraries. His ties to Wisconsin include a master’s degree from UW-Milwakee and a prior position as librarian at St. Norbert College.
“As someone raised in Wisconsin, I’m eager to contribute to the education and success of our students regardless of their place in life or previous experience,” Waelchli said. “I am excited to build on the great work the Andersen Library has already accomplished and work collaboratively throughout the library, and the state to help our students achieve the success they deserve.”
