UWW-TV and the campus radio station, The Edge 91.7 WSUW, take pride in working hard to produce content each week. Some of that work was recognized at the annual Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Awards For Excellence earlier in March.
UWW-TV took home two awards in television:
Sports Play-by-Play: 3rd place for the coverage of UW-Whitewater vs. Wartburg College
Sports Programming-Non Play-by-Play: 1st place for Warhawk Sports Saturday
WSUW also won three awards in radio:
Sports Story: 3rd place for Warhawk Sports Report
Sports Play-by-Play: 2nd place for their coverage of UW-Whitewater vs. UW-Oshkosh football
Promotional/PSA: 1st place for the Hip Hop Hump Day Promotion
Students spent the morning attending workshops about various aspects of television and radio. After the workshops, students had the opportunity to attend one of two break-out sessions. One focused on resume building, while the other created the opportunity to “speed network,” with various broadcast professionals. Overall everyone learned a lot and had a good time.
