March Madness has begun in Whitewater! On Monday it was announced that the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater would be a host site for the first two rounds (played on March 6-7) of 2015 NCAA Division 3 Men’s National Basketball Tournament. UWW-TV will cover all three games hosted at Whitewater LIVE. Coverage will being shortly before tip of each game.
On Friday:
#16 Ohio Wesleyan lost to #24 St. Olaf 78-90
#2 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater lost to Defiance 71-83
On Saturday:
#24 St. Olaf will will face off against the Defiance Yellow Jackets at 7pm CDT.
#2 UW-Whitewater
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater enters the tournament with a 24-3 (15-1 in conference) record. The second ranked Warhawks are from Whitewater, WI, and earned their bid by winning the WIAC tournament against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
#16 Ohio Wesleyan
The Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan hale from Delaware OH. Entering the tournament the Bishops hold a 22-5 overall, and 16-2 in-conference record. The 16th ranked Bishops earned an at-large bid after falling to unraked DePauw in the NCAC semi-finals.
#24 St. Olaf
St. Olaf will travel to Whitewater from Northfield MN. The 24th ranked Oles of St. Olaf enter the tournament off a loss to unranked Bethel in the MIAC Semifinals. Over the course of the season the Oles accumulated a 21-5 overall and 16-4 conference record.
Defiance
The Defiance Yellow Jackets are from Defiance OH. To earn their spot in the tournament, the Yellow Jackets defeated Bluffton in the HCAC Tournament Final. The Yellow Jackets are 21-6 on the season, and hold a 14-4 record in the HCAC.
